Gloves have become a common sight among the general public. Things have changed in the recent times after Coronavirus pandemic.
CDC or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing cloth face covering in public settings where maintaining social distancing can be a little challenging. With such directions making round everywhere, you may be wondering about gloves.
Many people at the grocery shop can be seen wearing them and you may think if you have missed a big thing.
Wearing gloves out in public
Currently, public health officials do not recommend general people wearing gloves while running essential errands.
You must note that you can spread germs through gloves just like your hands. You can do so while touching your eyes, face, nose and mouth.
If you are highly alert and doing everything right to avoid cross-contamination, you must remember that gloves are only effective if you are following the right practices to remove and discard them.
If wearing gloves, make sure to take them off the right way
Yes, there’s a right and wrong way to take them off. If you are not following the right method of removing them, and at the right time, you are actually neglecting the practical advantages of them.
How to remove gloves the right way?
- Grab the glove at your wrist without touching your skin and pull away from your arm
- As you do so, let it fold inside out
- Hold the glove with the other hand that is still gloved
- Use your ungloved fingers to remove the other glove. Slide them into the palm inside the gloved hand. Don’t tough the outside of the glove
- Peel it downwards while turning it inside out. As you do so, let the first glove get wrapped inside the second one
- Discard them off
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and clean water
